Questions, answered
Does this download the video from YouTube?
No. The splitter works on an audio file you already have, such as an MP3, M4A or Opus file. It uses the YouTube description only for the tracklist, which you copy and paste yourself.
What tracklist formats can I paste from a description?
Paste it as it is. Times can sit at the start or end of a line, in [brackets] or (parentheses), as M:SS or H:MM:SS, and track numbers, bullets, dashes and pipes are cleaned off the titles. Lines without a time, like "Tracklist:" or links, are ignored.
What if the timestamps are slightly off?
After you paste, every track appears in the list and on the waveform, where you can play from any start time and retype it before you split. If your file starts a few seconds earlier or later than the video, edit the times to match.
Can each track have a different artist?
Yes. If every line of the tracklist reads "Artist - Title", each track is tagged with its own artist, which suits compilations and various-artists uploads. The album artist you enter is kept so players still group the tracks together.
Is the YouTube album splitter free?
Yes, with no account and no limit on the number of tracks. One audio file can be up to 450 MB, which is several hours of audio as MP3, M4A or Opus.
