Free online audiobook chapter splitterOne audiobook, one file per chapter.
Upload an M4B and its own chapter markers become the tracks, titles included. Or go the other way: mark the chapters and get one M4B with them built in.
MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A/AAC or Ogg/Opus up to 450 MB
01Upload the M4B
One audiobook file of up to 450 MB; M4B, M4A and MP3 with chapter markers all work.
02Read the chapters
Chapter markers live inside the file, so it is sent up once to read them; every chapter becomes a track with its title.
03Download
One file per chapter, AAC copied without re-encoding, tagged with the book and cover art; or choose One M4B with chapters.
What people split with it
Chapters for older players
One file per chapter for players and car stereos that ignore chapter markers.
Sharing a single chapter
Pull out one chapter as its own file, with the book's tags and cover.
Building an M4B
Turn a long recording or a lecture series into one chaptered audiobook file.
Questions, answered
Where do the chapters come from?
From the chapter markers stored in the file, the same ones an audiobook player shows. They are read on the server, so the file is uploaded once for that; the split then reuses that upload rather than sending the book again.
Is the audio re-encoded?
Not with Keep original: AAC audio from an M4B is copied into each chapter file untouched, so there is no quality loss and it is quick. You can still choose MP3, Opus or another output if a player needs it.
Can I make an M4B with chapters instead?
Yes. Mark the chapters (or paste a list of chapter times), then choose One M4B with chapters as the output. You get a single audiobook file with a chapter marker at each track, tagged and with the cover art, which audiobook players can skip through.
How long a book fits?
The limit is one file of 450 MB. At the 64 kbps many audiobooks use, that is around 16 hours; at 128 kbps, about 8. A larger book has to be split into two files first.
My file has no chapter markers. What then?
You are told so. Mark the chapters by hand while it plays, paste a list of chapter times, find them by the silences between chapters, or cut the book into equal parts.
