Questions, answered
- What is a CUE sheet?
- A small text file that describes where each track starts inside one long audio file, with titles and performers. Players such as foobar2000 show the tracks from it, burning software writes a disc from it, and splitters use it to cut the file. Times are written as minutes:seconds:frames, with 75 frames to a second.
- What tracklist formats can I paste?
- The same ones the splitter reads: one track per line with its time at the start or the end, minutes:seconds or hours:minutes:seconds, with or without brackets, numbering, bullets or dashes. If every line reads "Artist - Title", each track gets its own PERFORMER.
- Which file name should I put in?
- The exact name of the audio file the tracklist belongs to, extension included, because the .cue points to it by name. Keep the .cue next to that file. The FILE type is set from the extension: MP3 for .mp3, WAVE for everything else, as players expect.
- Can I split the file instead?
- Yes. The free MP3 Track Splitter takes the same tracklist, or the .cue itself, and cuts the file into tagged tracks; every split also includes a .cue in its zip.
