  1. 01Upload

One long MP3, WAV or FLAC — a mixtape, a live set, a whole album in a single file.

  2. 02Mark tracks

Tap along on the waveform or paste timestamps you already have.

Every track cut, tagged with artist, album and cover art: one zip, or one track at a time.

What people split with it

  • Split a DJ mix or live set

Cut a recorded set into one file per song so it plays, shuffles and skips like a normal album.

  • Split an album saved as one file

Turn a single-file album rip or vinyl transfer back into numbered tracks with the right titles.

  • Split a mixtape with a YouTube tracklist

Paste the timestamps from a video description or comment and every track is cut at once.

  • Split a podcast, lecture or audiobook

Break a long recording into chapters or segments that are easy to find and resume.

Tracklist format

One track per line, with its start time at the start or the end. Minutes:seconds or hours:minutes:seconds, brackets and numbering all work.

Questions, answered

What does the MP3 Track Splitter do?
It takes one long recording — an MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A or Ogg file of a live set, DJ mix, mixtape, album rip or podcast — and cuts it into separate tracks. Each track is tagged with its title, artist, album, year, genre and track number, gets the cover art embedded, and everything is delivered as a single zip, with a download link for each track as well.
How do I mark where each track starts?
Two ways. Play the file and press "Add track" at each change while watching the waveform, or paste a tracklist with one line per track, like "3:45 Second Song". Times can be minutes:seconds or hours:minutes:seconds, at the start or end of the line, in brackets or not, so a YouTube-style tracklist pastes straight in.
Can it find the tracks for me?
Yes. "Find tracks automatically" puts a cut in the middle of every silent gap, with sliders for how quiet counts as silence and how long a gap has to be, which suits vinyl and tape rips and albums saved as one file. It can also cut a recording into a number of equal parts or one part every so many minutes, for podcasts, lectures and transcription, and move each of those cuts to the nearest pause. You see the tracks on the waveform as the settings change and can still edit any of them before splitting.
How do I split an MP3 using a YouTube tracklist?
Copy the tracklist from the video description or a comment, choose "Paste timestamps as text" in the splitter, and paste it in. Each line with a time becomes a track and the rest of the line becomes its title; lines without a time are ignored, and track numbers, bullets and the dash between time and title are dropped. If every line reads "Artist - Title", each track is tagged with its own artist.
Does splitting lose audio quality?
Not by default. "Keep original" copies the audio without re-encoding (a FLAC is re-encoded losslessly, so the samples are identical), so every track has exactly the quality of the source file. If you prefer, or to fade tracks in and out, each track can be re-encoded to MP3, AAC or Opus at 128, 192, 256 or 320 kbps, or written as lossless FLAC or WAV.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
Yes, it is free, and no. There is no account, no sign-up and no limit on the number of tracks; the one limit is the upload itself, a file of up to 450 MB. Candy Creative, a Houston web and AI agency, built it and keeps it running.
What happens to my file?
Your file is uploaded over HTTPS, cut on our server with FFmpeg and zipped — the splitting does not happen in your browser. The upload and our working copies are deleted as soon as your downloads are ready. Your timestamps, album info and cover art are saved in your own browser so a refresh or a lost connection does not lose your work.
Which audio formats are supported?
Upload MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A/AAC or Ogg/Opus, up to 450 MB. Keep the original format, or download the tracks as MP3, AAC (.m4a), Opus, FLAC or WAV. Cover art is embedded in MP3, M4A and FLAC files; WAV and Ogg files get their tags but no cover art.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The splitter runs in any modern mobile or desktop browser — iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows, Chromebook or Linux — with no app or download to install, and the layout is built for small screens, including while the on-screen keyboard is open. Every track also gets its own download button, so you never have to open a zip on your phone.
Can I split WAV, FLAC or M4A files?
Yes, upload them directly with no conversion. "Keep original" gives you tracks in the same format: a FLAC stays FLAC (24-bit stays 24-bit), a WAV stays WAV, an M4A stays M4A. A long WAV can run past the 450 MB limit; save it as FLAC first, which halves the size without losing anything.
Can it remove vocals or separate instruments?
No. The splitter cuts one recording into tracks one after another, by time. It does not separate vocals, drums or other instruments from each other; for that you need a vocal remover or stem-separation tool.
